Women in Engineering

Launched on 8th March 2025, the ASME India Women in Engineering Interest Group aims at retaining females in core and allied Engineering. The group consists of students and professionals and is set to develop initiatives and programs to help women elevate in their existing engineering careers in industry and academia and to mentor students to grow professionally. Via female inclusive competitions, panel discussions, hackathons etc, the group also aims at developing male advocacy for female engineering leaders and entrepreneurs. ASME Foundation India has previously hosted three successful panel discussions on Women in Mechanical Engineering as part of various initiatives—ranging from technical events and state section gatherings to virtual forums. The overwhelming participation and candid storytelling from women inspired further efforts.

FEME Flex Panel Discussion: Flex your Journey, Engineer the Change
The theme of the panel highlights the resilience, adaptability, and leadership of women engineers across the globe. The session aims to spotlight how women have navigated diverse career paths—shaping Industries, Academia, and Research—and how their stories continue to spark change in the engineering ecosystem. Through this conversation, we seek to empower the next generation of engineers to own their narrative and lead with purpose. It will bring together both established leaders and emerging professionals to share their journeys, insights, and perspectives on building impactful careers in engineering, fostering inclusion, and navigating challenges unique to women in STEM.
